A clear cold day by the creek. In 1860 this was the tallest building in the Atlanta area, a 5 floor mill harnessing the power of the water. Burnt down at the end of the Civil War.
Even today these ruins stand majestic and gracefull.
One hour walk on the river bank got me in range of the falls; a clear day but cold, walking back to the parking lot worm me planty. What a great place to be.
The sweetwater creek is spanned by this wonderful bridge, a quiet and tranquil place with a lot af american history . In 1860 the close by mill (5 floors) was the tallest building in Atlanta. First time i got to the site after setting up, I realized i did not have my palette knife so could not mix colors and left. Today returned with all my equipment and did this oil.
Another great day in plain air, with the weather condition changing completely in 40 minutes , from a clear skies to completely overcast and rain, I had to finish the oil home. Good thing the scene was clear in my mind. This reservoir is only 4 minutes from my home by car, so I am very lucky.
Yesterday rained all day so i try to capture the scene looking out of my studio window. Not really plain air, but tecnically it was, with all the comfort of home.
